As Washington state’s senior Senator, a member of Senate Democratic leadership since 2007, and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee since she first arrived in the Senate, Patty has a proven track record championing Washington state and breaking through partisan gridlock to solve problems, fight for progressive policies, and help workers, families, and communities. Senator Murray is also a primary leader for the CHIPS & Science Act which supports Semiconductors manufacturing and educations for students and working learners to enter good family wage careers.

Later, a successful businesswoman in Washington’s hi-tech industry, she helped build a company that created hundreds of high-paying jobs from the ground up. Senator Maria is a primary leader for the CHIPS & Science Act which support Semiconductors manufacturing and educations for students and working learns to enter into good family wage careers.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is a fifth-generation Washingtonian, former small business owner, and working mom who serves as Southwest Washington’s independent voice in Congress. As the daughter of an immigrant and pastor, Marie learned by example the importance of working for her community.

Marie earned her degree in economics at Reed College and co-owned an auto repair and machine shop with her husband, Dean, before coming to Congress. They were able to purchase their building with the help of an SBA loan and know the difficult choices small business owners often need to make.

State Board for Community and Technical Colleges

The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges — led by a nine-member governor-appointed board — advocates, coordinates and directs Washington state’s system of 34 public community and technical colleges.

Each year, about 262,000 students train for the workforce, prepare to transfer to a university, gain basic math and English skills, or pursue continuing education. Our students, graduates and community partners increase the state’s quality of life and economic vitality as entrepreneurs, employees, consumers, and taxpayers.
